Basedonsequenceidentity,ADAM28ismorecloselyrelatedtosnakevenommetalloproteases(SVMPs)thantopresentlyknownADAMs.NorthernblotanalysisshowsthatADAM28isexpressedintheepididymis,suggestingapossIBLeroleinspermmaturation,andinthelung.MatureADAM28ispresumedtobecatalyticallyactiveandfoundmainlyonthecellsurface.
